When it comes to traditional educational paths, packed lecture theatres, daunting, sprawling campuses and parking headaches are the norm.
However, studying kinesiology is a very different – and infinitely more rewarding – experience
What makes learning kinesiology so unique? A lot of things!
Here, we narrow it down to the top 6.
- It’s Hands-on From the Get-go: When it comes to studying natural therapies, many courses consist only of theory classes for quite some time. In many cases, it takes at least two years of learning before students start practicing on clients. Studying kinesiology is highly practical. It’s an incredibly gentle therapy and, because of this, O’Neill Kinesiology College’s Diploma of Kinesiology and Advanced Diploma of Functional Kinesiology students begin learning and utilising hands-on techniques with people very early on.
- It Helps Clear Your Stress: Traditional paths of study can add enormous stress to your plate. Studying kinesiology, on the other hand, tends to help people clear stress. As our students practice on each other in the classroom and receive kinesiology ‘balances’, we find they begin shifting stored stress out of their bodies and start to feel better. Importantly, this can happen even if people do not share highly personal experiences. Kinesiology also usually kickstarts (or progresses) a journey of self-discovery, sparked by the training helping pupils to better understand how they and others function and behave, as well as shedding light on many psychological and spiritual concepts. Ultimately, this leads to improved relationships through more conscious (and less unconscious) communication and interactions. The investment in the first year of one of our programs is often money students would otherwise have spent paying for private therapy of some kind for themselves – but usually with fewer results. On top of this, studying kinesiology gives them vital skills to help clients, friends, and family.
- You Find Your Tribe: Many people who choose to study kinesiology have long thought a bit differently to those around them. Sometimes, they’ve even struggled to ‘find their tribe’ because of their unique way of looking at the world. We regularly witness the firm friendships being made amongst O’Neill Kinesiology College students who finally feel at home with like-minded peers – and these relationships are frequently lifelong. Unlike large educational institutions, our space and classes are intimate enough to easily get to know others (you’ll also easily find a parking spot!) and our courses attract people from many different backgrounds and ages.
- We’re a Supportive Space: At larger learning institutions you can feel like a number. With us, you’re not. We know all our students and care about each one. We focus on creating a very supportive environment, one where you can lean on us and get help as needed. We offer a professional space where you can attain a government-accredited qualification, but we also proudly stay compassionate and heart-centred – approaches the field of kinesiology is based on.
- It’s Fun!: One of the things we hear most is that our students didn’t expect to have so much fun. There’s always lots of laughing alongside the learning, especially because the courses are so practical, with much less time spent sitting at desks and more time connecting with others.
- You’re Prepared for The Real World: By the end of our Diploma of Kinesiology and Advanced Diploma of Functional Kinesiology courses, students are more than ready to launch their new career and work in the real world. Our modules teach students how to run their own clinic (or work in one) and they have lots of experience being with real clients by the time they graduate. The College’s weekly supervised
practice sessions (which run throughout the course) involve sessions with people keen to be supported by kinesiologists-in-training. Those who complete our Advanced Diploma also come out ready to help clients with a wide range of modern health issues due to their in-depth understanding of the systems of the human body.
Another unique aspect of learning kinesiology at O’Neill Kinesiology College is that most of our clients happily share that they aren’t the same person they were when their studies began. People go on a journey with us; they change in unexpected ways and their lives are positively transformed in ways not even they could have predicted.
